Lauderdale Flood Mitigation Project Update

I know many residents have been wondering about the status of the Lauderdale Dog Park and the work that EPCOR is doing with their Flood Mitigation project. My office recently received an update from them that I’m pleased to share with you.
Construction in the park is planned to start this year and will be completed in 2028. But this doesn’t mean that the park will be closed this entire time! EPCOR has let me know that they will work to maximize the space available for residents and dog park users, while still ensuring everyone’s safety.
Construction of manholes and sewers is already underway and construction of the dry pond (within the dog park) is tentatively planned to start in 2025, continuing through 2027. The construction schedule is dependent on a number of factors including approvals and permits, staging, as well as weather.
In 2022, EPCOR hosted public information sessions and surveyed residents and dog park users to collect feedback on the Lauderdale Flood Mitigation project. That input was used to help them come up with a proposed layout and amenities for the park.
The following amenities have been incorporated into a proposed layout and also have the City’s approval to include them:
benches
picnic tables,
garbage cans,
poop bag stations,
sun/wind shelters,
lighting,
a paved trail,
maintaining the current fenced small dog park,
and community notice boards.
