I had my first Statutory Public Hearing meeting this past Tuesday. There were no proposed rezoning in Ward Anirniq brought forward in this meeting.
This coming Monday, November 29 - is the Non-Statutory Public Hearing on budget. To Register to speak at the Nov. 29, 2021 Budget Public Hearing, call the City Clerk’s office at 780 496 8178

Behind the scenes, I’ve been doing lots of research and learning about the budget process to prepare for budget deliberations. City Admin is proposing a 1.8% increase; coming off of a 0% increase for 2021. There is a lot to consider in this proposed Supplemental Budget including inflation, level of services, and community priorities. Thank you to all those who have provided their feedback to Council, or directly to my office, as it helps inform our path forward. Keep it coming!
Today I was honoured to participate in smudging, Indigenous awareness training, and learning more about the Indigenous Framework approved by Council in February, 2021 with Indigenous leaders and my council colleagues. The ongoing commitments towards reconciliation are important to keep at the forefront of our work. Today’s session concluded with a tour of “Indigenous Peoples Experience” at Fort Edmonton Park. I highly recommend visiting and partaking in this experience which received an international award!
