Weekly Round-up (Nov 29 - Dec 3, 2021)

This week was another week of firsts - first budget public hearing, first budget deliberations, first ETS Advisory Board, and first Audit Committee. Every Friday my head swirls with all the new information I am taking in.
Here are a few highlights for this week!
BUDGET:
Council has several days set aside to discuss, amend, debate, and ultimately approve the Fall 2021 Budget Adjustment. Me and my team have been working in the background in preparation of a few budget amendments we would like to make - including support for Coronation Rec Centre and enhancing snow and ice service levels. We had the chance to ask administration questions about the financial impacts of COVID-19 and the Capital Budget. Next week we will continue to ask questions on the operating budget and hear from the Edmonton Police Commission on the 8th on their budget.
EDMONTON TRANSIT SERVICE ADVISORY BOARD (ETSAB):
In November I was appointed to the ETSAB as the Council representative. I am so excited to learn from this committee and champion for strong transit in this capacity. I attended my first meeting and had the chance to meet so many of the great folks that are volunteering their time to share their knowledge and experience to improve Edmonton Transit!
AUDIT COMMITTEE:
The City Auditor brought three reports forward to the committee to accept as information including:
Electrical Services Contract Management Audit
Reserve Fund Governance and Management Review
Historical Resources Program Management Audit.
Administration accepted all the recommendations from the auditor and is working on implementing them. The auditor also has a recommendation dashboard where you can see the progress of report recommendations.
Have a great weekend!
